If death occurs at Home, and your loved one has been in palliative care or GP care, the medical person attending will verify the death. You can then authorise us to take your loved one into our care. Two certificates will be provided by the medical person, one for the funeral director and a second to be given to your medical practice so that your GP can complete a Death Certificate (Form 11/ MCCD) which will then be emailed or handed in to the registrar to initiate the registration process on which we will give guidance.

If the police are in attendance they may authorise you to contact us to uplift your loved one and take them in to our care, but hold them in a controlled environment until a death certificate has been completed. If the medical practitioner feels they are unable to complete a Death Certificate it will be refered to the procurator fiscal for further investigation.
